at the boarding gate
Right now I’m sitting outside Gate C15 at the main terminal at KLIA after Jonathan dropped me at the airport and I checked in for my Jetstar flight back to SYD. I attempted to see if they would move me to a bulkhead or an exit row; but despite checking in only 25 minutes after the gate opened - I was already the 181st person to checkin (a Jetstar A330 carries only 303). So no luck there. After finding nowhere to sit - Jonathan decided to depart and I headed on the shuttle over to Terminal C to find a seat and here I sit.

I managed a bit of a sleep in this morning and then had breakfast in the Club Lounge at Traders before heading back to my room to shower and pack. I have to say that I did well in picking my hotels for this holiday - all were worth extending the visit. Overall the holiday has been successful in being a bit relaxing; and allowing me to explore something new (and take lots of photos).
After checking out, we chilled out in the Lounge for a little while before heading over to KLCC to watch a session of Indiana Jones at TGV. I have to say, to watch this film you need to suspend all sense of reality. Sure - I always expect films in the franchise to have supernatural elements which you would never believe in - but this film had a bunch of explosion and car crash scenes which noone would have surprised. Sure, Henry Jones Jr survives an atomic bomb test in some desert in the middle of the US by hiding inside a lead lined fridge; but how did he survive the impact of that fridge flying several hundred metres (or more) and falling down a huge hill end over end? The effects were good - but ultimately I found it lacking a bit; and if you ask me we have now been set up for the franchise to continue with Shia LaBeouf as the new Jones.
After the movie we grabbed some food at Nippon Tei (which wasn’t that good so I won’t recommend it) and then grabbed my bags from the hotel for the drive out to the airport. Fairly quiet - but all in all an eventful trip.
As I sit here I have been reading that JQ is leading the charge to try to revolutionise Vietnam’s tourism industry. On Friday Pacific Airlines renamed itself Jetstar Pacific and one day later a Canadian developer announced they have commenced construction of a $4.2bn resort and casino in Ho Chi Minh City which will open in 2010. The aim of the liberalisation of the tourism market is for the communist country to take on Thailand and Malaysia for tourist dollars - indeed it was ranked fourth fastest growing travel destination this year by the World Travel and Tourism Council.
I think I will go and find some water for the flight. I plan on taking some Valerian and getting a reasonable amount of sleep.
